Carvey and Myers bury hatchet for Wayne's World screening

Stars put differences behind them to celebrate 21 years since release of the first film

Dana Carvey and Mike Myers have reunited with the cast of 'Wayne's World' for a special 21st anniversary screening of the 1992 film.

The comedy pair, who fell out after the film and its 1993 sequel, were joined by co-stars including Rob Lowe, Lara Flynn Boyle and Tia Carrere for the event at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

Director Penelope Spheeris, who also fell out with Myers, was in attendance too, as well as Lorne Michaels, the creator of 'Saturday Night Live', where the first 'Wayne's World' sketch aired.

Speaking on a panel after the screening, Myers revealed that Paramount, the studio which released the film, wasn't initially supportive.

“The first note we got back was, ‘I don’t get it',” he told the audience.

But the film went on to be a massive success, grossing $180 million worldwide on its $20 million budget.

Michaels added: “It’s designed in every way to be fun. It has no other agenda.”

The production wasn't plain sailing, however.

Myers was said to have fallen out with director Spheeris because she ignored his suggestions for the final edit of the film, an issue which caused him to block her directing the sequel.

But now the disagreements have been put aside, Spheeris telling the Hollywood Reporter earlier this month: “We're all getting too old to be p*ssed. Wayne's World has such a beautiful, uplifting spirit about it. Why should there be a dark cloud?”

Carvey was also fell out with Myers, notably over his memorable turn as Dr Evil in his 'Austin Powers' films.

It was said that Myers lifted the character from an impression that Carvey did of their 'SNL' boss Michaels.
