Cast revealed for Paul Potts biopic

Julie Walters, Alexandra Roach and Mackenzie Crook set to join James Corden in ‘One Chance’

Director David Frankel has announced the cast for upcoming Paul Potts biopic ‘One Chance’.

‘Gavin & Stacy’ funnyman James Corden had already been confirmed to star as the first winner of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, but the ‘Devil Wears Prada’ filmmaker has revealed the rest of the cast.

Frankel told Digital Spy that although the deals were yet to be finalised ‘The Iron Lady’s Alexandra Roach will play Potts's girlfriend Julie-Ann Cooper while ‘The Office’ and ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’ actor Mackenzie Crook will play his best friend.

‘Educating Rita’ and ‘Harry Potter’ actress Julie Walters and Colm Meaney (best known for 1993’s ‘Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’ series) have been cast as the singer’s parents.

Simon Cowell, who was blown away by Potts’ ‘BGT’ audition, could appear as himself. Frankel said: "If we reshoot [his audition], he'll play himself. If we recreate it, he will play himself."

He continued: "We start shooting in about six or seven weeks. It'll be done by Christmas.

"It's just the ‘Rocky’ story. I think most people were not aware of the full extent of the adversity that [Potts suffered], but it's also a love story.

“It's a story of this guy who meets a woman online, a guy with no confidence, still living at home with his parents and working in a Carphone Warehouse, and he meets this woman who just believes in him. Almost for no reason. Because she loves him, she believes in him, and she won't let him give up his dream."
