Christoph Waltz is reportedly in talks to play the lead villain in the forthcoming reboot of the 'Tarzan' story.

Both 'The Amazing Spider-Man's Emma Stone and former 'Neighbours' star Margot Robbie are also in the mix for the role of Tarzan's lady friend Jane.

'Zero Dark Thirty' star Jessica Chastain has previously been linked to the role.

'Harry Potter' helmsman David Yates is directing the project, based on the classic by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

Meanwhile, Alexander Skarsgard set to play the man raised by apes.

Waltz is said to be in line for the role of Captain Rom, a Belgian soldier 'who attempts to capture Tarzan in exchange for a ransom in diamonds'.

The Austrian-born actor is well-schooled in the world of villainy, having made his international breakthrough playing the quietly maniacal Hans Landa, the scene stealing role in Tarantino's 'Inglorious Basterds'.
