Bruce Willis returns as bad ass John McClane (Bruce Willis) in this non stop action thriller. This time he has to stop a fire cell which has been set in motion by an elite group of hackers led by Thomas Gabriel (Timothy Olyphant) bent on revenge on the American government. McClane is out of his natural territory here so is aided by young hotshot hacker Matt Farrell (Justin Long) who unwittingly helped the hackers set the chaos in motion. They start by knocking off all the transport systems, crashing the stock markets and cutting off the power before really going for the jugular. McClane makes the fight personal with Gabriel, who then kidnaps young Lucy McClane just to piss her father off.

Willis is a good bit older than the last time he played McClane, but he rocks in the role. He is as tough and smart mouthed as you’d expect him to be. Long is good as the nerdy hacker who has to “grow a pair” in order to help save the world. Olyphant (isn’t that what they called an elephant in Lord of the Rings?) puts in a good performance as the evil mastermind, he shows his emotions and motivation through so well that you actually kinda empathise with him at times, although you can’t wait to see McClane kick his ass the whole time. Kevin Smith (Silent Bob!) also makes a cameo as the jedi of all hackers.

The action scenes are brilliant, really exciting. If you’ve seen the trailer, you know he kills a helicopter with a car just coz he was outta bullets…but that’s not all he does. The action and explosions just keep coming, giving just enough time in between to catch your breath.

I can’t think of anything bad to say about this movie. It’s almost perfect. It’s exciting, packed full of action and thrilling in every way. Don’t worry if you haven’t seen any earlier Die Hards (although shame on you if you haven’t)…you won’t be lost, but it is extra exciting and funny if you know all about McClane. I can’t recommend this movie enough.

Go see this movie as soon as you can.
