Danny Boyle predicts the end of monarchy
In an interview with 'The Guardian', director Danny Boyle has praised the Queen's acting skills while predicting that the Royal Family will be out of a job within his own lifetime.
The acclaimed director of the Olympic opening ceremony which featured Her Majesty in a starring role alongside Daniel Craig as 007 thinks it's time for the institution to be mothballed.
"I think the pressure on them is utterly impossible, as recent events show. It's a ludicrous spotlight they're under. You can still have a royal family if you like … but actually have an elected head of state."
The director then went on to say that while he wasn't up for the job of president he'd recommend 'Harry Potter' author J.K.Rowling for the role.
Boyle also talks about his refusal to be honoured with a knighthood for his services to the games last year, saying it's "...not my cup of tea, never has been. I believe in being an equal citizen rather than a preferred subject."
Boyle's new thriller 'Trance', which stars James McAvoy and Vincent Cassel, is released in the UK on 27th March.
