A poster advertising controversial new biopic ‘Diana’ has appeared on a billboard at the Pont de l’Alma, close to the Paris road tunnel where the British Princess died.

The spot became infamous after Diana, boyfriend Dodi Fayed and driver Henri Paul were killed in a collision at the tunnel’s entrance on 31 August, 1997.

The movie promo also sits next to the Flame of Liberty, a replica of the New York Statue Of Liberty’s torch that has been adopted as an unofficial memorial for the British Royal.

‘Diana’, which premiered in the UK earlier this month, has so far been universally panned by critics. The Guardian infamously called the Oliver Hirschbiegel-directed movie “car crash cinema”.

It’s not the first time the movie has courted controversy. Star Naomi Watts recently made the headlines when she reportedly walked out of an interview with Simon Mayo on BBC Radio 5 Live. You can listen to the awkward moment below.
