Disney unveils ‘Avatar theme park’

Pandora inspired attraction will be ‘an experience unlike any other ever created’.

Disney has unveiled the first-look concept art for an incredible ‘Avatar’ attraction to be built at its Animal Kingdom theme park in Orlando, Florida.

Created in partnership with ‘Avatar’ filmmaker James Cameron, Disney is planning a mammoth recreation of Na’vi home world Pandora as an immersive walk-through park.

Walt Disney Parks chairman Tom Staggs called it “an experience unlike any other ever created.”

“Guests will encounter awe-inspiring floating mountains and wander through a nighttime jungle of bio-luminescent plants that are alive with light and sound.”

The Disney boss also offered some clues as to what rides might be featured at the park, saying: “Guests will also discover what it feels like to soar into the sky riding a Banshee.”

The ‘Avatar’ attraction is believed to be part of the largest expansion in the history of the Animal Kingdom site (already Disney’s biggest theme park) - however don’t expect to visit Pandora anytime soon, the current opening date is sometime in 2017.
