Loosely based on director Cameron Crowe's own history, Elizabethtown features Orlando Bloom as Drew Baylor, a good guy whose innovative running shoe design fails to ignite the sports world just when he's most in need of a boost following the death of his father. On the way to reclaiming the body he meets Claire, a young, sweet, optimistic air stewardess (Kirsten Dunst).
This nostalgic film shows Drew discovering what his dad was all about and what made him tick, while inevitably falling in love with Dunst's flight attendant (well, who wouldn't?). Susan Sarandon is brilliant as Drew's mother, dealing with her grief by tap dancing.
Crowe's tried-and-tested method of jogging memories through music works well again here. But the slightly awkward romance between Bloom and Dunst is only mildly entertaining viewing and it's a shame that those qualities of charm and unpredictability that Crowe has delivered in the past are for the most part lacking here.
DVD also includes extended scenes, Training Wheels and a Meet The Crew section.
