Eve Stephens is a high-powered prosecutor who is about to reach a professional peak with her imminent appointment to the bench. Though Eve appears to have an exemplary life--perfect job, perfect lover, perfect car, perfect home--beneath her exquisitely groomed surface is a woman plagued by doubt and neurosis. When Eve's self-destructive sister Maddy is arrested for shoplifting, Eve must leave her seemingly secure power-base in Los Angeles and venture into the desert to sort out Maddy's legal affairs.
