Based on the 1976 comedy of the same name, this update stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan in the roles made famous by Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster.
Like any mother-teenage-daughter relationship, Tess (Curtis) and Annabell Coleman (Lohan) have their ups and downs. Recently though they've been having more downs than ups and the added pressure of Tess's impending nuptials to Ryan (Mark Harmon) certainly aren't helping. Things come to a head during dinner at a Chinese restaurant one night and before they can say 'lucky fortune cookie', the pair have swapped bodies. Throw in a boy Annabell fancies, an annoying little brother and a gig Anna's band can't miss and it's going to be a fraught few days ahead.
Films like this must be a godsend for actors, especially those who get to play the young, less mature character during the swop. Curtis embodies everything one would expect from a stroppy teen while Lohan has to play it straight as the serious maternal influence (and get lovey-dovey with a man she hates).
OK, so this remake not win any Oscars or make any profound social statement but that's fine 'cos it doesn't have any pretention to be anything other than it is - good, old-fashioned family entertainment.
