It's strange languages, confusing philosophies and wacky costumes a-go-go in this sci-fi classic from French director Luc Besson.
Bruce Willis stars as Korben Dallas, a 23rd century cabbie whose military past finds him at the forefront of a battle against a ball of pure evil which is heading straight for Earth. Somehow this ball is connected to the recently cloned Leeloo (Milla Jovovich) and Dallas has to find out how before it's all too late.
One of the most stylistically OTT movies of the last ten years, The Fifth Element is a cracking adventure. Some stunning CGI effects, such as flying cars, blend with outrageous visual concoctions while the plot isn't actually as bad as it may initially sound. Besson also bought together a top cast including Gary Oldman, Ian Holm and Chris Tucker for this pet project which he actually scripted while he was still at high school.
Colourful, innovative and just great fun, The Fifth Element isn't just for sci-fi fans and this double-disc DVD has more than done the movie justice.
