Fast & Furious 6 featurette: Shooting in Europe (Exclusive)

Behind-the-scenes and on location in London with the crew of Fast 6.

In our exclusive featurette, we go behind-the-scenes on upcoming action ‘Fast & Furious 6’ to see how the team brought the rubber-burning franchise to London.

‘Fast’s’ Vin Diesel and co. battled it out iconic locations from King’s Cross to Waterloo Station, and even managed an impressive street party at the Treasury, right under the government’s nose.

Watch out for the congestion charge though Vin. That’ll slow you down.

Give it a watch above, including a cheeky cameo from Rita Ora.

“We’d wanted to go to Europe for quite some time,” reveals star Diesel, adding that his favourite part was when his character, Dom, raced long-lost girlfriend Letty around Piccadilly Circus

“We’re only the third film in history to be able to shoot in Piccadilly,” commented director Justin Lin, “that means everything to me”.

“Usually we’re more underground on this franchise, but I just felt like with this one we go big, or we go home.”

Despite the noticeably traffic-free London streets, when the action needed to “go big”, the team set-up shop in Liverpool and Scotland, where they were able shoot what one crew member called “crazy stunts”.

However for the impressive tank-chase set-piece (as seen in the trailer), the ‘Fast’ team flew to Tenerife, where they were able to very literally smash through barriers and burn/blow-up their bridges.

“We’re welcomed into these places with open arms,” boasts Vin, “and we realise how much our audience likes to go to those places with us.”

Just don’t tell them about the bridges…

‘Fast & Furious 6’ powerslides into UK cinemas 17 May 2013.
