Goal 2 updates 2006's Goal in which Kuno Becker's Santiago Munez is awarded the chance of the football big time.

Like any aspiring young football player, abandoning a life in Los Angeles in order to pursue a Premiership career rather than follow his father into the lawn maintenance business is no real dilemma. Although Newcastle United isn't exactly the perfect picture of football glamour.

The sequel finds him as he turns his back on the underachieving Geordies and joins the far more glamorous Galacticos of Real Madrid, including David Beckham, Zidane, Ronaldo and Raul (who make appearances in the film).

Rutger Hauer (from the original Hitcher, Blade Runner and the old Guinness ads), plays Real Madrid manager Rudi Van Der Merwe. At least he's scarier than Alex Ferguson.

Anna Friel plays the obligatory love interest while, judging by his brief acting stint here, the LA-bound Beckham should extend his playing career as long as possible.
