Get the approval of the game's governing body and some high profile sponsorship from a sportswear company then add in some real life superstars like Zinedene Zidane and Alan Shearer. The go for it big time and decide to make a trilogy of films... Goal!

This is rags-to-riches tale. Santiago Munez (played by Kuno Becker) is aiming to live the 'American Dream' in Newcastle! Spotted by an ex-talent-scout who's holidaying in South America the young asthmatic Mexican hot foots it to the North East of England with the promise of a trial with for 'mighty 'toon army's club. He'll have to prove himself twice though: Once to play premiership football and again that he can handle the Tyneside weather! Then probably again too, when he learns the rigours of a good night out as a top footballer can make the tabloids. As Anna Friel pops up and catches the eye of this newcomer it develops into a boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl, etc. story. Part 2 will see him 'do a Beckham' and going to Europe.

Goal! is predictable. However, as far as popcorn movies go this ticks many of the boxes: Mr Beckham is painfully wooden to provide the comedy, there's action on the pitch (although the football is more Sky's Dream Team than Match Of The Day), sauciness off it and a slick sexy well-edited, if cliched, sports film is the outcome

Besides an audio commentary the DVD extras include 'Behind The Pitch' featurette, The Beautiful Game' featurette, Golden moments of the FIFA World Cup, a Goal II trailer and loads more.
