Ivan is the 8-year old son of a Chilean exile who has grown up in New York. When his environmentalist father gets the green light to return to his homeland, Ivan instantly becomes a 'gringuito', or little gringo. He adapts to his new country, exploring Santiago and meeting Slim, who may have lost his family to the 'disappearances' of the time of dictatorship.
