For those unfamiliar with the franchise, The Grudge, like The Ring, is Japanese horror that has been remade, almost immediately, with Buffy star Sarah Michelle Gellar in the lead role of nurse Karen Davis.

The sequel explores the dark secrets of 'the grudge" as the terrifying supernatural curse afflicts a group of hapless victims who seemingly have nothing in common. As it spreads from a dilapidated Tokyo house Aubrey Davis (Amber Tamlyn) falls prey to its power, just as her sister Karen before her. As its victims become filled with uncontrollable rage, the curse moves on again, until some brave souls determine to unlock its secrets.

It's a shame that Gellar hasn't really set the big screen alight following her Buffy success. She has generally appeared in in average films at best and The Grudge 2 falls into that category with just enough scares and effects to provide an evening's entertainment for die hard horror fanatics.

Special features include storyline development, East Meets West featurette Holding a Grudge - Kayako & Toshio Featurette, director interview, deleted scenes and alternate ending.
