Golden Globe Awards 2014: Our favourite moments

The dust has settled, the awards have been won and now drinks are being had.

The Golden Globes 2014 have come to a close. Despite bookie predictions 12 Years a Slave didn’t manage to sweep its nominated categories, but still walked away with the biggest award of the night: Best Picture Drama. David O. Russell’s American Hustle fared slightly better, picking up three awards overall including Best Picture Comedy/Musical and both Best Actress and Supporting Actress for Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence respectively. Meanwhile on the telly front: TV series Breaking Bad and Brooklyn Nine-Nine also fared well, earning two awards each including Best TV Drama Series and Best TV Comedy Series. Catch up on these moments and more in our list below

1. First of all: Jennifer Lawrence red carpet photobombed Taylor Swift and it was incredible.

2. Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are on fine form as hosts. Some of our favourite lines: On 12 Years a Slave: “After seeing that movie I will never look at slavery the same way again.” And on Gravity: “The story of how George Clooney would rather float into space and die than spend one more minute with a woman his own age.”

Oh and Amy made out with Bono at one point. Naturally.

3. Jacqueline Bisset started out her speech as if she would never be able to speak again. By the end of her speech you thought she would never STOP speaking again as the ‘PLEASE GET OFF THE STAGE’ music loop completed and ended nearly four times over.

4. Bryan Cranston finally won a Golden Globe for his performance on Breaking Bad as chemistry teacher turned meth king pin Walter White. We actually would have rioted if this never happened.

5. Breaking Bad also won Best TV Series Drama. We were all treated to one final (and definitely nervously clipped): ‘YEAH B*TCH!’ from Aaron Paul.

6. We got to meet Tina Fey’s ‘son’ from a previous relationship: Randy!

7. Emma Stone oozed Classic Hollywood glam as she presented the Cecil B DeMille Award to Woody Allen.

8. Sadly Allen himself couldn’t be there and the award was collected on his behalf by Diane Keaton. The glasses were a nice ‘Woody’ touch, but we’re still not entirely clear why she sang a lullaby at the end of her speech.

9. Emma Thompson presented the award for Best Screenplay clutching her heels in one hand and a stiff drink in the other. It was more entertaining than any teleprompted banter could ever hope to be.

10. Steve Coogan appeared with the real Philomena Lee to introduce Philomena. We think she managed to upstage him.

11. 12 Years a Slave takes home the award for Best Motion Picture Drama. Though it didn’t manage to win any of the other categories it was nominated for it still managed to snag the most prestigious award of the evening.
