Jake Gyllenhaal is to star as a gambling addict in new drama Mississippi Grind.
Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden, who directed Ryan Gosling in his Oscar-nominated role as a drug addict teacher in Half Nelson, will directed the new film from their own script, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film follows a down-on-his-luck gambler who teams up with a younger gambling addict - played by Jake - in the hope of escaping his crippling debts.
The pair take a road trip through the southern US dreaming of winning back all the money they have lost.
The lead character for the low budget project has not yet been cast, but is suited to an actor in his 40s.
Ryan and Anna started out in documentaries, but have become celebrated in Hollywood following the critical acclaim of Half Nelson.
They most recently wrote and directed It's Kind Of A Funny Story with Zach Galifianakis.
