How much does it cost to interview Brad Pitt?

Journalists charged thousands to help pay for private jets and hairdressers

Journalists are being charged thousands of pounds to speak to A-listers like Kristen Stewart and Brad Pitt at the Cannes Film Festival, apparently to help fund stars’ lavish lifestyles.

Alliance, the distributor of Stewart’s ‘On the Road’ and Pitt’s ‘Killing Them Softly’, sent Canadian hacks a ‘menu’ detailing how much it would cost for an audience with the actors.

According to movie blog Deadline, the prices were: $3,232 (£2000) for a TV spot with Brad Pitt, and $1,293 (£820) for a print interview with Kristen Stewart.

Anne Tremblay, a spokeswoman for Alliance, justified the prices: “The fee is simply a means for the expenses to be shared.

“These stars travel by private jet, with their agents, make-up artists and hairdressers; someone’s got to pay.”

They added: “Alliance decided not to partake in the Cannes junket for ‘Killing Them Softly’ and ‘On the Road.

"However we wanted to provide Canadian journalists the opportunity to participate directly if they so choose."

In the movie business outlets (such as Yahoo! Movies) never pay to interview film stars. Actors are expected to give interviews to help drum up free publicity for their projects.
