Twenty thousand years ago, as we all now know, the Earth started to get cold. Very cold, in fact, and that's where this film opens.
While all the prehistoric creatures with any sense are heading south, to sunnier climes, one beast is heading north. Manfred (as voiced by Ray Ramano) isn't the most sociable of woolly mammoths but his good deed in helping Sid (John Leguizamo), the sloth, out of a tricky spot has left him with an unwelcome sidekick and an even more unwanted situation. Unfortunately, Sid insists that he and Manfred return an infant human child they find to its 'herd'. Joined on their travels by a tough sabre-toothed tiger, Diego (Denis Leary), the trio embark on an adventure.
While its animation mightn't be as flawless as we've become used to, Ice Age still possesses a charm of its own and funny set pieces plus a more serious message about man's hunting tendencies.
This special edition also includes the featurette Gone Nutty: Scrat's Missing Adventure plus; 3 Scrat Reveal segments, 6 Blue Sky featurettes, audio commentary by director Chris Wedge & co-director Carlos Saldanha, deleted scenes with optional commentary, Behind The Scenes Of Ice Age and much more.
