Just My Luck signals Ms Lohan's theatrical coming of age, allegedly, but in truth this is another quite entertaining teen farce aimed squarely at Saturday afternoon popcorn munchers.
Lindsay plays Manhattan socialite Ashley, seemingly the luckiest person in New York until she bumps into the rather less fortunate Jake (Chris Pine) at a masquerade ball. Slapstick Jake is so ridiculously unlucky he makes Mr Bean look like James Bond, but they do say opposites attract in Hollywood and the unlikely pair kiss. However, it turns out they may have swapped more than just saliva during their brief encounter as Ashley wakes up to find out that she and Jake have swapped luck! Cue all manner of role reversal, er, hilarity.
Just My Luck might be as predictable as a Status Quo song, but as feel-good teen chick flicks go this one hits most of the right buttons. Lohan was born to play this part proving she has great comic timing and a self-deprecating charm that bellies her tabloid reputation. Sure it's a stupid parody of Lohan's own life and there's some God--awful acting from Brit poppers McFly (surely a sly marketing ploy), but bubblegum movies don't get much slicker and less taxing than this.
Features extended/deleted scenes, Look Of Luck featurette, casting session, Profiles of Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine and, for the screaming girl contingent, McFly live tracks I've Got You and I Wanna Hold You.
