Joel McHale joins Adam Sandler in rom-com

Joel McHale has been added to the cast of a forthcoming romantic comedy  from Warner Bros. that stars Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore.

Mchale, who most recently hit the big screens in 'Ted', is best known for his TV work in series such as 'Community' and 'Sons of Anarchy.'

Frank Coraci will direct the as-yet-untitled film, based on an original script by Ivan Menchell and Clare Sera.

Coraci is primarily known for his work with Sandler on films such as 'Click', The Waterboy' and 'The Wedding Singer.'

The movie's taken a while to get to production, being first pitched in 2007 under the title 'Blended.' The story involves a couple who, after a disastrous first date, get trapped at a family resort with their kids from previous marriages. Joel will play Drew Barrymore's unpleasant first husband.

McHale is currently filming another comedy, 'A Friggin’ Christmas Miracle,' which also stars Robin Williams and Lauren Graham.
