Karen Gillan joins cast of Guardians of the Galaxy

Amy Pond turns bad for Marvel

It's been announced by 'The Hollywood Reporter' that Karen Gillan will be joining the cast of Marvel's 'Guardians Of The Galaxy': but for this latest jaunt into space she'll be playing the villain.

Gillan, better known as Doctor Who's companion Amy Pond in seasons five through seven, will be joining the James Gunn-directed blockbuster which begins production in late-June.

Details so far are sketchy, but it's confirmed that the Sottish redhead will appearing as the film's as-yet-unnamed villainess alongside other baddies, Lee Pace and Michael Rooker.

She joins the cast's other most recent addition, Glenn Close, along with an impressive line up that includes Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista.

Gillan is obviously now focusing her sights on the big screen as she's also just finished an upcoming indie horror movie 'Oculus' alongside 'Battlester Galactica''s Katie Sackhoff.
