I wonder at what point the audiance looses their concern for the 'Good Doctor". Round about when he starts his adulterous activities with Idi's 3rd Wife! did it for me. Like you go and mess about with a Mad Dictators Wife. A bit daft that. Was he that stupid in real life?
There may well be even more 3rd World Movies coming out to add to the current crop, Blood Diamonds, Babel etc.
Paying the local 'extra's peanuts saves the Film Companies a few bob.
Like it says on the billboard advert, "Riverting". AND IT WAS.
Kept you watching the film till the end.
Thought there would be more blood and gore, glad there wasn't.
Most people can imagine what it was like. Nearly as bad as Iraq!!.
Old cockeye slightly hammed it up a bit, a wee bit, just a smidgen.
Though no where near Tim Robbins', War of the Worlds dire tripe of an excuse for an acting performance. I thought Forrest would totally ham it up. a surprise there. A bit of baggage was carried over from his previous work, that 'chip on his shoulder', some might call it, though he might consider that his confidence.
He was terrifying, but not totally terrifying.
His portayal overall was a good effort that may well get him an Academy Award for best male actor.
He has always seen himself as a bit of a hero. And here he plays a villan. A bit ironic that.
All in all, well worth the money, beats 'Bobby' hands down, I would say it was better than 'Babel' though I did see that on a 22 mtre wide screen.
Good Directing and acting, even by the supporting cast, they were of a good standard.
