First trailer for Lego Movie features Batman and Superman

Sceptics be damned, because this 'toon looks rather funny.

'The Lego Movie' feels a bit like it has been lumped in with that glut of less imaginative movies based on games/toys/theme park rides which are all preying on nostalgia to get our cash.

Unfairly, say we, and for a few reasons.

Firstly, it's being directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the chaps behind the hugely underrated 'Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs' and the solidly entertaining '21 Jump Street'.

Secondly, its voice cast is frankly awesome, including as it does 'Parks and Recreation' (and 'Guardians of the Galaxy leading man) Chris Pratt, Will Arnett, Elizabeth Banks, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Will Ferrell and Nick Offerman.

Thirdly, this trailer looks great.

And fourthly, it features music by Mark Mothersbaugh, one of the legends behind cult new wave band Devo (though hopefully the dodgy euro-rave version of 'Take On Me' on this trailer isn't his doing).

So anyway, that's all settled then.

Starring Pratt as hapless Emmet, he's plunged into a job he never asked for when he's mistaken for Master Builder, the Lego guy who can save the universe from an evil tyrant.

So with stacks of in-jokes, some great jerky animation and some familiar faces, this could be a real cracker, we reckon.

It's due out on February 14 next year.
