Synopsis

Losing his job as an auto mechanic, Ray falls into a deep depression. Trapped in a poor, working-class black neighborhood, Ray's prospects for a better job are almost none, even though he is a hard worker and good mechanic. Economic pressures increase and Ray's anger is vented on his wife, Mary, and children Chris and Miranda. As the family struggles to stay together and survive, Ray finds solace in the routine of working to fix his broken truck.
