The first and most faithful big screen rendering of the classic '60s TV espionage series finds a mercifully grin-free Tom Cruise tackling the role of superspy Ethan Hunt.

His personal mission, after a disastrously bodged job, is to discover the identity of a mole who betrayed him and a team of agents that includes Ving Rhames, Jon Voight, Emmanuelle Beart, Kristin Scott Thomas and Emilio Estevez. Framed for murder, Hawke must dodge assassins, break into the CIA's impenetrable vault, cling to the roof of a speeding train and schmooz with an International crime lady (Vanessa Redgrave) to prove his innocence.

Director Brian De Palma (Scarface) brings genuine suspense and intrigue to what could have easily turned into another cheap action TV remake. Instead of a tacky blockbuster Mission Impossible has the feel of a dark, breathless thriller from the '70s like The French Connection. And that's no bad thing.

This DVD comes armed with bonus features including Mission Remarkable which looks behind the scenes of the movie in various stages such as Mission Explosive Exploits and Mission Catching The Train. There's also the inclusion of the Acceptance Speech For BAFTA LAs Stanley Kubrick Excellence In Film award, trailers and much more.
