Doing what he does best, Hugh Grant plays Alex Fletcher in this cosy rom-com, about a bumbling '80s popstar whose years at the top of the charts are long behind him.
Things soon change when pop princess Cora Corman (Haley Bennett) asks Alex to write and record a duet with her. But he hasn’t written a song in years and has never written lyrics so he seeks the help of Sophie Fisher (Drew Barrymore), the girl who normally waters his plants.
With romcom writer and director Marc Lawrence (Two Weeks Notice, Forces Of Nature, Miss Congeniality) at the helm, Music And Lyrics follows a well-established plot formula, with some entertaining digs at the music industry. Grant's terrible karaoke vocals inadvertently add to the comedy but it's his one-liners that steal the show.
Extras include additional scenes, a gag reel, Note for Note: The Making of Music and Lyrics plus the hilarious PoP! Goes My Heart music video.
