Set ten years before the events of ‘Monsters Inc.’, ‘Monsters University’ sees fresh meat Mike Wazowski and furry jock James P. Sullivan, both “Scaring Majors”, uncomfortably thrown together as roommates in the same fraternity. Expect cheerleaders, pranks and parties, but also fur, teeth and tentacles. Just like any other university. Check out the trailer for more.
Billy Crystal and John Goodman both reprise their roles from the 2001 film.
Pixar has also released five brand new images from the film, including a good look at MU’s tough-to-impress Dean Hardscrabble, played by Dame Helen Mirren.
Speaking about her cameo, Mirren called the role “a liberation”:
“It has been easy over the years to find good roles for my voice, but it has not been so easy to squash my many legs and my wings into the various costumes I have been forced to uncomfortably wear, disguising my true form,” joked the 67 year-old.
“Finally I can make good use of both voice and body in a role that seems tailor-made for me—one could say monster-made. At last, the audience can experience the real Helen Mirren.”
‘Monsters University’ is out in the UK 12 July 2013.
