The first pics of Naomi Watts as Princess Diana have emerged online.

The Oscar-nominated actress looks strikingly similar to the late Princess Diana in the snaps which were taken in Croatia on the set of movie biopic ‘Caught In Flight’.

Dressed in a shimmering gold, floor-length gown, the actress is seen filming a red carpet scene in front of a hoard of extras starring as Princess Diana fans.

In another photo, Watts can be seen wearing identical clothing to the late princess.

Directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, the drama will centre on the last two years of the Princess's life and will explore her alleged affair with heart surgeon Dr Hasnat Khan, played by Naveen Andrews.

Naomi Watts, who beat Jessica Chastain to the role of Princess Diana, said in an interview: "It is such an honour to be able to play this iconic role - Princess Diana was loved across the world, and I look forward to rising to the challenge of playing her on screen."
