New Bond girl and title revealed?

We round-up the latest batch of 007 rumours

It has been an exciting week for Bond fans, with several HUGE rumours emerging about the 23rd film in the series.

Firstly the title, which is rumoured to be... ‘Skyfall’. Clever types guessed the name after finding out Sony Pictures had registered the domain names ‘skyfallthemovie.com’, ‘skyfallfilm.com’ and most importantly, ‘jamesbondskyfall.com’.

It’s just a very hazy rumour so far, but if it does turn out to be the real title we reckon it’s not bad. Single-word names - think ‘Goldeneye’, ‘Goldfinger’ and ‘Thunderball’ - have worked nicely before.

It’s definitely better than ‘Quantum of Solace’.

With filming set to start in Istanbul next month, the production team will also need a Bond girl pretty sharpish. The front runner is French actress Bérénice Marlohe, who would follow in the footsteps of Eva Green and Olga Kurylenko as Craig’s previous love interests.

She’s mainly starred in French TV but recently shot a movie called ‘Un bonheur n'arrive jamais seul’. Don’t expect to see it in your local multiplex anytime soon.

Next up, the theme tune. It was speculated that Adele has been chosen to belt out the song.  According to The Sun the 23-year-old Londoner wrote a tune while taking a break from touring. Again it’s nothing more than a rumour but she is one of the more likely candidates to get the gig, if she ever recovers from her cold that is.

Finally, and this one is a little older, Bond scriptwriter John Logan attended a BAFTA screenwriters lecture last month in which he was reminded of something he said 10 years ago.

He once said: “Bond should always fight Blofeld”. When asked again about this he reportedly gave a wry smile and said, “Bond should always fight Blofeld”.

But who might play the grey-suited baldy? Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes have both been linked to the project and as their work in ‘No Country for Old Men’ and the ‘Harry Potter’ series shows, they can do villainy.

The stuff we do know: ‘American Beauty’ helmer Sam Mendes is directing the film, which will be released in the UK in October 2012.

UPDATE: The Daily Mail are reporting that Bérénice Marlohe has been confirmed as the new Bond girl. We await confirmation from the studio.
