Earlier today the new account emerged and teased that something would be unveiled today. Images of the book, written by Suzanne Collins, were uploaded to the account with the hashtag #thespark along with the quotes ‘A spark that, left unattended, may grow...’, ‘There's no going back...’ and ‘Determined to carry on…’.

After a tantalising wait, the brand new poster for the film which shows Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen atop a mountain and high up in the clouds was revealed. If you look closely at those clouds, you will see one shaped like the now infamous Mockingjay.

The colouring of the poster is a far darker and grainier one than the lavish, bright colours we’ve seen previously, no doubt reflecting the even darker and more emotional depths this story provides. Though the new poster also makes Katniss far more distant – choosing instead to place more emphasis on her surroundings – Katniss is still a strong presence in the image, with her standing strong and armed with her trademark bow and arrow. There is also the new tagline, as teased by the Instagram account, which reads ‘The sun persists in rising, so I make myself stand’.

The second film in the popular trilogy will certainly prove an immense test for our heroine as she battles once again to stay alive and keep her loved ones safe. It seems fitting, then, to focus so heavily on her relentless survival instinct, on that part of her that wants nothing more than to disappear once more into the relative calm of district twelve but, having won the games in the first film, can no longer do so.

With six months to go before fans get to see the ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ on the big screen, coverage of the long-awaited sequel is starting to appear more and more. We’ve already been treated to a few images from the film and the first trailer was revealed at the MTV Movie Awards, offering a glimpse of Katniss and Peeta on their victory tour.

'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ is slated for release on 22 November and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Stanley Tucci.
