New Mandela poster gives first look at older Idris Elba (Exclusive)

After the tough few teaser posters, and an inspirational trailer, we’ve got our first close-up look at Idris Elba as an old-aged Nelson Mandela for upcoming biopic ‘Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom’.

Contrasted with the iconic “Free Nelson Mandela” inspired promos that arrived back in May, this new poster gives us a warmer, wiser look at the Anti-Apartheid leader as ‘Pacific Rim’ star Elba don’s some heavy prosthetics for the part.

[Luther to get a movie prequel]

Based on the best-selling autobiography of the same name, the movie will follow Elba as the former South African leader through his fight as a an ANC activist, infamous 27 year imprisonment and eventual rise to Presidential office.

Co-starring Naomi Harris and directed by ‘The Other Boelyn Girl’ helmsman Justin Chadwick, ‘Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom’ is out in the UK 3 January 2014. You can hear Elba’s take on Mandela’s unforgettable voice in the official trailer below.
