Iconic superhero car, The Batmobile, featured in TV show 'Batman' has been sold.
The car that transported actors Adam West and Burt Ward in the roles of Batman and Robin in the legendary '60s series was snapped up in a US auction by a logistics company owner from Phoenix, Arizona for £2.6m ($4.2m).
The car is actually a Lincoln Futura concept car, designed and built by the Ford Motor Company in 1955, which was then modified for the TV series by George Barris, a famous car-customiser. He completed the job in 15 days at a cost of $15,000.
The car starred in all three series of the notoriously camp TV show between 1966 and 1968.
The buyer, 56 year-old Rick Champagne said the purchase was ''a dream come true''.
