DVD Review

The world of PR has always been mysterious to outsiders. This movie, starring Al Pacino and Tea Leoni, focuses on one of the best smoochers in the business, but reveals that it isn't all glam parties and star-studded bashes.

Pacino is immense as Eli Wurman, a legendary New York PR man whose taste for drink and drugs has markedly reduced his effectiveness. Then he's thrust into a dangerous situation involving a moody starlet (Leoni) and major movie star (Ryan O'Neal) and Eli truly finds that the old adage holds true - it's not what you know, it's who you know.

This movie belongs to Pacino right from the start - he simply acts everyone else off the screen. The performances from his co-stars are solid too, but when Al is in full flow, even the most talented of thesps struggle to keep up.

OK, the plot is somewhat predictable, but that's an after thought when watching Al Pacino grab a film by the scruff of it's neck and shake some life into it.
