After the truly excellent "Casino Royale" we are presented with this lacklustre affair. True, the opening is a supersonic, adrenalised, rollercoaster car chase and we are led to believe that we are in for one hell of a ride. Unfortuantely that is definitely true. But not in a good way. I cannot understand why the producers didn't have the same director at the helm. The new guy, Marc Forster should stick to "Finding Neverland" which was excellent because he is completely out of kilter here within this genre. There are some very patchy scenes and some amateurish technical gaffes. There are glimmers of great "Bondness" but there are also terrible cliches (the most notable being the Bond girl found murdered and covered head to toe in oil) "Oilfinger" anyone???!!! Daniel Craig is excellent though underused. His fight sequences are superb and they are gritty and dangerous looking. The worst moment is close to the end of the film where the director, and the screenwriters pull off the worst clanger and the biggest anti climax, when Bond is facing the one who has caused so much of his misery. Quite pathetic really. Jack Bauer would have been seen to act. Why not our own 007 JB? All in all, not a patch on "Casino Royale" and a huge disappointment.
