Sylvester Stallone has dusted off yet another old screen hero of yesteryear, but unlike Bruce Willis (Die Hard), Steven Spielberg and George Lucas (Indiana Jones) Stallone doesn't tinker with the formula that made the franchise popular. And in Rambo's case (the dark original aside) that means paper thin characterisation, dubious political ideology and cartoonish violence. The latter being so visceral and over the top it has now landed itself the title of 'Most Kills In A Film' - something we're sure writer/director/star Stallone will without doubt be proud of.
It is by no means perfect - the rag tag team of mercenaries that Rambo teams up with are blandly written - and if you want to see a film that details the real suffering of Burmese people then this isn't for you. However, if you want to see some of the bloodiest action ever put on screen then Rambo stands decapitated head and severed shoulders over anything you will see this year.
Extras include an audio commentary with Stallone, a documentary charting the return of Rambo and the music legacy of Jerry Goldsmith.
