Remake of Poltergeist going ahead
Fox and MGM will make the 'revisionist' version of the classic horror
The mooted remake of classic 80s chiller 'Poltergeist' is now confirmed, with backing from major studios MGM and Fox.
According to Deadline, they will co-finance the project, which is being called 'a revisionist take on the classic horror film'.
The screenplay of the new version is being written by David Lindsay-Abaire, the Pulitzer Prize-winning scribe behind films like 'Oz: The Great and Powerful' and 'Rise Of The Guardians', as well as 'Shrek The Musical'.

Here's how the studio is describing the remake:
“In a revisionist take on the classic horror film, a family struggling to make ends meet relocates to an outdated suburban home and is confronted by an angry spirit who kidnaps their youngest daughter and challenges them to band together to rescue her from the clutches of evil.”
As yet there are no stars on board, and no director announced.
