Hailed as one of the greatest war films ever committed to celluloid, Steven Spielberg's poignant masterpiece is reissued to commemorate the 60th anniversary of D-day.
The film is set just after the D-day landings of June 1944. A group of eight US soldiers, led by Captain John Miller (Tom Hanks), are sent on a dangerous mission into France to locate one man. The soldier they're looking for is Private James Ryan, a man whose three brothers have all been killed in action. Consequently, the last surviving Ryan sibling has been given a ticket home by Uncle Sam. However, does it make sense to endanger the lives of eight men in the search for just one?
A stunning, vivid and graphic look at life on the front line, this brutally honest film shows the harsh realities of war and doesn't give the usual Hollywood take on armed combat.
This edition features a wealth of extras including an introduction by Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and the entire cast introducing their characters, plus Re-Creating Omaha Beach and Boot Camp featurettes and many more interesting bits and pieces.
