Dark and thoughtful, this is a sequel that's for once, well worth watching. However, Saw II is not for the faint hearted.
This time a group of unlucky 20-somethings are at the mercy of the psycho serial killer Jigsaw, who has his own take on the art of murder. Survival is but a game for ol' Jigs who's slowly poisoning his frantic captives with nerve gas in a dank disused shelter. If the gas doesn't get them then he's got all manner of gruesome boobytraps and horrifying 'games' to entertain his petrified guests with. Fortunately detective Eric Matthews (Donnie Wahlberg) is on his case... or is Jigsaw on his?
Like David Fincher's Se7en this is a horror that'll haunt you long after you've switched off the DVD. As with the first movie there's genuinely unexpected twists not only involving the identity of Jigsaw but what you think the movie is about in the first place, with a finale that nobody could see coming. But do beware of the scene when a character dips her hands into a vessel filled with razor blades.
DVD bonus features include audio commentary plus featurettes - Jigsaw's Game, The Head Trap, The Needle Pit, The Hand Trap, The Furnace and much more.
