After the loss of her father, Hannah hunkers down in her room to write a novel. She soon becomes deeply entrenched in an internet relationship with the mysterious @lien at the other end of the connection who has offered to mentor her. In fact, she almost never leaves her bedroom. Hannah has become addicted to the false intimacy of instant messages, but awkwardness is creeping in to their communications. One day Hannah's roommate puts her foot down: Hannah must come to a party with her. And then, lo and behold, she actually meets a real live flesh and blood guy at the party.
