I'm afraid all you gushy princesses need a reality check on this one from a (Straight)man's perspective as you clearly aspire to something in this "lifestyle"that has made you all suspend your critical faculties.
Sure it was perfectly enjoyable, like seeing old friends that had gone astray, but the thing that was so compelling about the series was sadly lacking in the movie; ie.insightful, witty and surprisingly comprehensive overviews of dating/relationship issues.
I didn't notice if it was indeed the same writer but it would be extremely surprising if it was. There was no sensible plot to it and this was made more irritating by the fallacy that just because Big was having a wobbly moment at the last minute and needed a bit of reassurance (yes ladies,I believe you can ALL empathise with that phenomenon)because that rather irritating "adorable" child stole Carries phone, then that suddenly explodes into the idea that the whole relationship is off.
Then this becomes the entire dramatic basis for the film!
If Men had taken that kind of viewpoint every time women changed their mind at a critical moment, there would be no films made anymore because the human race would've died out around the hunter gatherer stage.
Furthermore, it's somewhat disturbing that none of you ladies have mentioned this absurdity in your reviews ,which leads me to believe that perhaps you all agree that it's perfectly legitimate to throw away your best shot at happiness because you felt "upset" over something relatively trivial.
Also the extent of the product placement was shockingly disgraceful even by Hollywood movie standards. It was at such a ludicrous level that it ultimately undermined the bedrock of "fabulousness" which led to gaining a reputation for the series, and instead had become grotesque and embarrasssing.I am the most flambuoyant man that I know of,and I've been to New York, and I can sincerely report that there are no women,I repeat none whatsoever, who present themselves anything like those four, and believe you me I was looking for them.
Anyway I think in the end it's fair to say that this is a movie for completists as if you haven't seen and liked the series it will feel rather shallow.
P.s. check out the review along here that says there was too much ott sex scenes in the movie!
