The first two films were great - we have watched Shrek 2 over and over again. We saw Shrek 3 on a plane recently and don't therefore feel "cheated" that we didn't like it one iota.
It does not represent any form of progress or improvement on its forebears, lacks their "bite" and generally is a huge washout.
