One of the taglines for Steven Spielberg's Jaws was 'You'll never go in the water again', here, at best, it's a case of 'You'll never go to the toilet again (or for a few minutes after the film).' Perfect in flight viewing!
A phenomenon on the internet, months before it was even completed, Samuel Jackson was sold on the idea of Snakes On A Plane before there was even a script.
Plot wise it's hardly a stretch on the imagination. Jackson stars as an FBI agent escorting an eye witness on a flight from Hawaii to LA. However, things get messy when a crime lord releases hundreds of deadly snakes on the plane in order to eliminate the witness before he can testify. Jackson's FBI agent must protect his witness and the hysterical passengers, as the deadly reptiles threaten to over-run the flight.
Snakes was never meant to be taken too seriously. It's an endearingly cheesy B-movie masquerading as a Hollywood blockbuster. So is it so bad it's good? Not quite, particularly after all the hype it's received, but Sam Jackson delivers some killer one-liners as usual.
There was a time when Samuel L Jackson was reluctant to do DVD commentaries as he thought talking over the film was "rude" but he provides one here alongside director David R Ellis, producer Craig Berenson, associate producer Tawny Ellis, VFX supervisor Eric Henry, stunt co-ordinator & second unit director Freddie Hice.
Also included are deleted scenes with optional commentary, Gag reel, a behind the scenes documentary, VFX featurette, Snakes On A Blog: documenting the fan-based buzz, Meet The Reptiles: the snakes featured in the film and Snakes On A Plane (Bring It) music video.
