Everything about this gem of an indie flick is little - from it's budget to it's main star - but by the film's end you'll be under no doubts that it is perfectly formed.
Fin (Peter Dinklage) is a reclusive dwarf who has one obsession in his life: trains. So when his best friend leaves him a disused train depot in his will, Fin is overjoyed: it seems like the ideal chance to get away from people. However, he soon finds that the locals just won't leave him alone, especially food cart owner Joe (Bobby Cannavale) and grieving divorcee Olivia (Patricia Clarkson).
In Dinklage, writer/director Thomas McCarthy may well have found a huge star in the making. His size allows him to explore the depth of emotions required and the attitude he displays enables his raw talent to shine. He's also joined by some capable actors but it's the subtlety and depth of McCarthy's script which is the undeniable foundation for their sterling work.
A charming and understated offering, The Station Agent is certainly one to catch.
Extras include an audio commentary from director McCarthy with actors Dinklage, Clarkson and Cannavale as well as deleted scenes.
