Second Hangover Part III trailer reveals Chow-heavy plot

Wolf Pack get kidnapped by John Goodman in new footage.

The wolf pack is back, and this time... it's the last time. And also a bit like the first time. And the second time.

The second trailer for 'The Hangover Part III' has landed, and it's now unleashed the plot which had up to now been kept guarded.

Director Todd Phillips had been billing the final film in the Wolf Pack trilogy as most definitely not being 'in the same template' as the first two films.

The first film was a wild success, but the second was criticised for being a little too much like the first, following a second bachelor party gone disastrously wrong but switching Vegas for Bangkok.

So OK, there's no bachelor party in this third instalment, but there is kidnapping (of Justin Bartha's character Doug – again), a road trip (again), Las Vegas (again), and Ken Jeong's admittedly rather brilliant Leslie Chow getting them all into trouble (again).

So much for discarding the template...

This does, however, look promising despite treading some of the old ground. The plot appears to pick up after the death of Alan's father, resulting in Alan going 'off his meds' and behaving more oddly than usual.

The Wolf Pack stages an intervention, planning to take him away to rehab, but it appears they don't make it – instead they're intercepted by villain John Goodman in search of Chow, who has stolen a sturdy amount of money from him.

Once again Zach Galifianikis as Alan appears to be set up to steal every scene (until Chow arrives), while the way is paved for another manic caper...

Whether it's the same formula or not... we have kind of missed these guys.

Returning are Bradley Cooper as Phil, Ed Helms as Stu, Heather Graham as Jade, Jeffrey Tambor as Sid Garner and Mike Epps as Black Doug, while Melissa McCarthy has joined the cast too.

It's due out on May 24.
