Sesame Street parodies the Hunger Games

Your furry childhood chums at ‘Sesame Street’ have taken on the biggest movie about to hit the box office, in a hilarious new parody of ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.’

Cunningly dubbed ‘The Hungry Games: Catching Fur’, the video sees the Cookie Monster don a brown wig to play a bizarre incarnation of Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen – this time answering to the moniker Cookieness Evereat.

Watch our clip from the ‘Hungry Games’ above, and as the saying goes, “may the cookies be ever in your flavour”.

The five minute short isn’t all fun and games though (well, it sort of is), as in classic ‘Sesame Street’ style Cookiness and her pals (including talking flatbread Pita, a pun on Josh Hutcherson’s character Peeta) solve puzzles, teach kids about patterns, and identify which foods are healthy to eat.

“We all know what we’ve got to do: eat food to win Hungry Games,” rallies Cookiness. “The question is, which foods are we supposed to eat to win?” her companion replies.

After a series of challenges, you’ll be pleased to know that the Cookie Monster wins the day, boasting to the camera “Thankfully me no have to ever, ever play that again!” His furry co-star quips in: “You know they’re making a third one, right?”

‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ is out in the UK 21 November 2013. Watch the heartwarming moment Jennifer Lawrence made a young fan's day at the World Premiere, below.
