Snow White dwarf casting slammed

Support group said Huntsman film should not have cast full-sized actors to play dwarves

The decision to cast well-known actors as the dwarves in ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ has been criticised by support group Little People of America.

Bob Hoskins, Nick Frost, Ray Winstone and Ian McShane are among the Brit actors portraying the dwarves in the film, released in the US this weekend.

The rep from Little People of America, a nonprofit organization said that Hollywood should be casting people of short stature wherever possible.

They told TMZ: “This means both casting people with dwarfism as characters that were specifically written to be played by little people, and other roles that would be open to people of short stature.”

Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth portray the main characters in the film, while the actors playing dwarves were made to look small in comparison using camera angles and special effects including the placement of their faces on the bodies of shorter people.
