Star Wars Stormtroopers: An internet tribute

Celebrate May the Fourth with the forgotten (and utterly useless) heroes of the Empire.

Of all the characters and creations in the massive ‘Star Wars’ Universe, it’s the humble Imperial Stormtrooper that the internet loves the most.

The faceless white armour-clad clones form the blunt fist of the Galactic Empire’s might. But, for all their professional training, ruthless appearance and apparently lethal firepower, they’re totally, one-hundred-percent useless.

Stormtroopers are a bumbling legion of Bantha Fodder: unable to beat the Ewok’s army of teddy bears in battle, fooled by low-ceilings (see the notorious ‘Head-bumping Stormtrooper') and of course, they can’t shoot for toffee.

Their incompetence has even given rise to the term ‘The Stormtrooper Effect’ – used to describe how henchmen in action movies can never hit a leading character.

But that’s why we love them right? They’re endearing - and ripe for the absurdities of the fabled internet meme.

So with the semi-official ‘Star Wars’ day May the Fourth upon us, we pay tribute to the humble Stormtrooper with just a few (believe us) of the funniest pics, memes and dodgy PR snaps featuring the guys in white.
