Speaking to Entertainment Tonight the actor, who stars in the film as knife expert Lee Christmas, added: "I say that for all the right reasons."

"The people in it… everybody that we know, Sly, Arnold, everybody’s back but this time around you’ve got Mel Gibson, Wesley Snipes, Harrison Ford, Antonia Banderas, I mean the list goes on and on and on.

"It’s never been seen to have that assembly of so many significant faces that everybody knows."

Statham also took the opportunity to vaguely praise his other upcoming franchise film, Fast & Furious 7, in which he plays vengeful villain Ian Shaw.

"You know what the franchise is all about, you know the people in it, you know the characters in it - obviously,

"I'm not part of that crew, so you can expect what I'm gonna turn up and do, and it's driven by stupendous car action."

According to reports, the actor recently had a serious accident on the Expendables 3 set, but wasn't able to discuss the incident.

"I'm not allowed to [elaborate] because there's a few things that are going on at the moment regarding that incident," he said. "So I won't be spilling the beans - not on this occasion."

Statham's co-star Terry Crews, told Jay Leno that he was lucky to be alive:

Fast & Furious 7 will be released on 25 July, 2014, while The Expendables 3 hits cinemas on 15 August.
